If you are eligible to obtain a HELP loan, but do not have a Tax File Number (TFN), you must lodge your TFN application immediately.
Information about applying can be found on the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) website or by visiting a participating Australia Post retail outlet. Make sure you read through the application information carefully.
TFNs can take up to 28 days to be issued, so you may need to provide us with proof of your application. If you have applied through Australia Post, please provide a copy of your application summary and receipt.
If you apply directly to the ATO, please provide a Certificate of Application. To obtain a Certificate of Application you can contact the ATO on 13 28 61. You must provide this documentation to us no later than the census date of the relevant study period.
Once you have received your Tax File Number you must provide your TFN to us immediately through your Student Centre.
