Recognition of prior learning (credit)
Updated
At USQ, you could be given credit for prior studies and work experience which will reduce the duration of your program – allowing you to graduate sooner!

Prior studies include courses completed at USQ or at another institution. If you have studied at university or TAFE within the last 10 years (5 years for Psychology) you may be eligible to transfer some of your study as credits to your preferred USQ degree. Our credit calculator may be able to help you determine credits are eligible for.

If your work experience is related to the degree you’d like to study, you may be eligible for credit. We recommend you check the program handbook 'Credit' section to learn about each program's specific credit policy.

Further information on recognition of prior learning (credit) is available on our website.

How to apply for recognition of prior learning
If you apply to study with USQ via QTAC you will need to complete an Application for Credit/Exemption. We recommend sending the Application for Credit/Exemption to Study@usq.edu.au after you’ve submitted your QTAC application.

Students that apply directly with USQ will be prompted to complete a credit application online after their application to study is fully processed.

Please ensure you provide us a full, official English translation of your qualifications and transcripts if they are printed in a foreign language. Documents submitted in a foreign language should include a copy of the original as well as a translated copy.

What happens after I submit my application for credit?
Your application for credit will be assessed by the relevant Faculty and in most cases will be finalised within approximately 20 working days. You will be emailed the outcome of your application once the assessment is complete.
