What is Creative Commons?

Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organisation that provides free licences for creators to use when making their work available to the public. These licences give permission for others to use the work in advance under certain conditions. Please consult this user guide for more information.
It is important to note that some Creative Commons licences will restrict your choice of licence. For example, if aspects of your work contain the "Share Alike" element, the final work must be distributed under a "Share Alike" licence. Alternatively, you could seek permission from the copyright owner to use a different licence.
