How do I apply for an assessment extension?
Updated

The University recognises that unexpected circumstances may impact your ability to complete assessment items by the submission date.

If you are unable to submit your assessment by the submission date, due to reasons beyond your control, you may apply for an extension prior to the due date, in one of two ways:

  1. Log into Uconnect
  2. Student Centre
  3. Online Requests tile
  4. Add a New Request menu item
  5. Assessment Extension menu item
  6. Select New Request button
  7. Follow the prompts
Alternatively, through the updated link under the Assessment tab in your Course Study Desk.

Students may apply for a Short Extension or Long Extension depending on their individual circumstances.  Applications will be assessed in accordance with the Assessment Procedure and the Assessment of Special Circumstances Procedure.  Please note, not all assessment items are able to be granted an extension. Before submitting an assessment extension request, check your StudyDesk to confirm you may make an application for the assessment item.

Assessment Extension Requests are open for students to submit from the beginning of Orientation Week up to the last day of the exam block for each teaching period. This includes Semesters and the 8 Week Teaching Periods, depending on your program.

Extension requests submitted after the due date will only be accepted where you can provide evidence in accordance with the Assessment of Special Circumstances Procedure that it was not possible to submit a request prior to the due date.
