What should I do if my Nursing placement is clashing with my mandatory Lab/Residential School?
Updated

Before census day

If your mandatory Lab/Residential School clashes with your placement, see if your Lab/Residential School can be rescheduled to avoid the clash.

To check if your Residential School day and/or time can be swapped to an alternate available option and it is before the last day to enrol, you can change your class via:

  1. Log into UConnect
  2. Student Centre
  3. Manage Enrolment tile
  4. Update classes (from lefthand menu)
  5. Select the class you wish to change (subject to class availability/capacity)
  6. Check the box for the new preferred course (class) option
  7. Confirm and Continue
  8. Submit

After census day

If your mandatory Lab/Residential School clashes with your placement, please submit a request via the following link Nursing Change of Residential School form to change your Nursing Residential School day to an alternative class.

If there are no other dates available, on your first day of placement you will need to advise the placement facility of the days that you will be absent due to mandatory University commitments. If your Lab/Residential School clashes with the first day of placement, you will be unable to attend placement and must contact the HES Placements team for further advice.

Please note that you must make up any missed days on a future placement.

All students must complete their Lab/Residential School prior to attending their first year NUR1299 placement. If your NUR1299 placement clashes with your mandatory on campus commitments, please contact Student Support and the Placements Team to discuss.
